Yosef Fox won the Event #11: $10,000 Mystery Bounty for $729,333 at the 2005 World Series of Poker. This was Fox's first WSOP bracelet, but the second in his family after his son, Jorden, won one in 2019. Fox was also fortunate to claim the massive $250,000 mystery bounty on the final day of play.
Fox pushes his lifetime tournament earnings to just shy of seven figures, according to The Hendon Mob. But he has nearly a million reasons to be heading home to Monticello, Wisconsin, a happy man after topping the 616-entrant field to claim his first WSOP gold bracelet.
The 616-entrant field returned on Day 2 with 130 players remaining and only 93 players in the money. Two-time WSOP bracelet winner Santhosh Suvarna was eliminated on the bubble as the likes of Andrew Lichtenberger, Joey Weissman, Eric Baldwin, Brian Rast, Alex Foxen, Felipe Ramos, Ren Lin, Arthur Morris, Nacho Barbero, Kristen Foxen, Mike Matusow, Calais Campbell, Shannon Shorr, Mike Gorodinsky, and Aram Zobian were all eliminated prior to the final two-table redraw.
Dario Sammartino, Christian Roberts, Taylor Paul, Michael Moncek, and Frank Lagodich were all eliminated prior to the final table being reached. Jordan Siegel, Myles Mullaly, Joe Cada, and Chao Duan all fell before play ended for Day 2 with just five players remaining.
James Mendoza began the final day as the chip leader, with a $250,000 mystery bounty remaining. Patrick Kennedy was the first to exit when his pocket kings were outdrawn by Fox's pocket jacks. With this elimination, Fox drew the massive $250,000 mystery bounty before Richard Green was eliminated in fourth when his ace-nine was outdrawn by Mendoza's seven-five.
Mendoza was then eliminated by Alejandro Peinado after losing a race with king-jack to pocket sevens. Fox held a slight lead entering heads-up play, but immediately increased his lead and continued to apply the pressure. The final hand played out when Peinado three-bet shoved with ace-deuce suited and was looked up by Fox and his pocket jacks. Peinado improved with a pair, but it wasn't enough to keep him in as he fell in second place.
