Joao Simao Wins 2nd PGT Title in NAPT Las Vegas $10K NLH / PLO
The NAPT Las Vegas continued from Resorts World Las Vegas on Wednesday, November 5, with the conclusion of the fourth PGT-qualifying event of the series. Stephen Chidwick continued his winning ways on the PGT with a victory in Event #12: $50,000 Super High Roller for $557,930.
Chidwick won a Pot-Limit Omaha High Roller last week in the PokerGO Studio, and with this NAPT Las Vegas win, he now has a record-tying 12 PGT titles. This win secured Chidwick 223 PGT points, propelling him to 10,168 career PGT points. Chidwick is now the second player to reach the 10,000 PGT point milestone, following Alex Foxen, who achieved this milestone with his victory during the PGT PLO Series in October.
The 2022 PGT Player of the Year is now 12th on the PGT leaderboard with 1,431 PGT points. It will be a tough road for Chidwick to repeat his PGT leaderboard-topping performance in the 2022 PGT season, as Foxen has nearly twice his PGT points tally. Chidwick is a near-lock to qualify for the PGT $1,000,000 Championship, held January 12-13, 2026, but does sit second on the NAPT Las Vegas Dream Seat Leaderboard.
The 23-entrant field in Event #12 included some of the best players in the world, including Americans Seth Davies, Sam Soverel, Isaac Haxton, Sam Laskowitz, Jason Koon, Nick Petrangelo, Ben Tollerene, Brandon Wilson, Dan Smith, Cary Katz, Bryn Kenney, David Chen, and Jesse Lonis, alongside International players Michael Gathy, Leon Sturm, and Thomas Boivin. Following the elimination of Bryn Kenney on the money bubble, Cary Katz would be eliminated in third place for $223,100 and 89 PGT points. This was Katz's third cash at NAPT Las Vegas and moved him to fourth on the NAPT Las Vegas Dream Seat Leaderboard. This was Katz's 15th PGT cash of the season, where he sits with 737 PGT points and is 77th on the PGT leaderboard - roughly 140 PGT points outside of the top 40.
Heads-up play was contested between Chidwick and Thomas Boivin, and when Chidwick prevailed, Boivin would collect $334,700 in prize money and 134 PGT points. This was Boivin's second cash of NAPT Las Vegas, and he sits in fifth on the NAPT Las Vegas Dream Seat Leaderboard. His position on that leaderboard may become redundant as he also climbs to 34th on the PGT leaderboard with 1,119 PGT points to be in a prime position to qualify for the PGT $1,000,000 Championship.
