The tournament formerly known as the PCA is one of the best poker festivals in the world, held at the world famous Atlantis Resort. The resort is on a private island in Nassau, Bahamas and it’s criminal to not take advantage of the world-class amenities, but Nassau is full of options and local flavor and a short cab ride away.
The Water Park
The resort operates world-class waterpark with heart-pounding water slides, two (not so) Lazy Rivers and 20 different pools to choose from. There’s the infamous shark slide – where after a 60-foot plunge that tube takes riders through a shark tank. Admission to the park is free for hotel guests and is worthy of entire day.
The Pools
There’s no shortage of pools at the resort – one for every mood. There are kids pools, relaxation pools, lap pools and party pools with cabanas and a DJ. The upscale Cove has a private, adults-only pool for clothing optional sunbathing and poolside gaming.
While Dolphin Cay is not a part of the Water Park, it’s one of the most unique attractions in the world. The resort rescued dolphins displaced by Hurricane Katrina and they offer multiple dolphin interactions in a one-of-a-kind facility.
The Golf
The Ocean Club Golf Course takes up nearly a third of Paradise Island with an 18-hole course. The course is open all year and hosts the Pure Silk Bahamas LPGA Classic. It’s a private resort for Atlantis guests has been ranked as one of the top 25 island golf courses in the world.
A competing golf course sits on the other side of the island – the Ernie Els designed Albany Bahamas. It’s part of the Albany Bahamas Resort about an hour’s drive away.
The Water Sports
Beautiful white sand beaches rim the back half of Atlantis that are open to guests. There are a few companies that offer parasailing and jet ski rentals but they are not affiliated with the hotel and guests are cautioned as much.
SCUBA and snorkeling lessons are available in the much calmer waters of Atlantis.
