The latest action at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) saw Dylan Linde win gold for the third time as he took gold in the $50,000 PLO High Roller, while players such as Chris Moorman, Arab Zobian and Stephen Song all thrived on Day 2 of the Millionaire Maker. With five events in play, players chased glory at the Horseshoe Las Vegas and Paris casinos in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Linde Celebrates PLO High Roller Victory

Dylan Linde beat Stephen Chidwick heads-up to claim his third WSOP bracelet and the biggest prize of his career in the $50,000-entry PLO High Roller Event #57. After a final table played out with stars such as Quan Zhou, Biao Ding and Richard Gryko going close, Linde beat his good friend Stephen Chidwick heads-up, with the British man winning an impressive $1.43m as runner-up, pushing him closer to Bryn Kenney at the top of the All-time Money List.

“It’s been a few really deep runs in a row,” said Linde after the event. “I feel very fortunate, and incredibly lucky to win such a large amount, my third bracelet, and to get heads-up with one of my best friends. I can’t imagine a better day.”
With three bracelets inside four years, Linde is impressive enough himself and credits breaking that duck - something that took Chidwick some time too - with helping him win more.

“It’s interesting because I had been trying for a long time to win a bracelet, and I made a lot of final tables and hadn’t. So that one felt special in the sense that I finally did it.”

Moorman Among Million Chasers

Day 2 of the 53rd event of this year’s WSOP saw the field reduced to a lot fewer players than those who began in the $1,500-entry Millionaire Maker. With 11,996 total entries, a prize pool of $15.9 million is already being divided up between those in the money places, with 2,618 Day 2 players down to just 357 survivors by the close of play.

Of those players, American player Collin Ball (3,245,000) leads the way, with Artem Tuliupa (3,135,000) and David Rees (2,830,000) closest to the summit with $1.25 million on offer as top prize in the event.

While Ball is rolling along nicely, he has plenty of big names in his rearview mirror. Chris Moorman (2.29m), Yang Zhang (2.26m), Matt Glantz (2m), Stephen Song (1.29m), Matt Affleck (1m) and Aram Zobian (1m) are all hopeful of winning more WSOP gold from a top 100 position, while Barry Shulman (910,000), Adam Owen (710,000) and DJ Alexander (670,000) will attempt to do so from a little further back.

Glendinning Going for Gold

In the $,3000-entry Nine Game Mix event, Jonathan Glendinning (1.44m) leads the final 18 players from 144 Day 2 starters, with Norwegian mixed games specialist (1.42m) and Thomas Taylor (1.27m) in the podium places too.

Having finished fourth in Badugi just a fortnight ago, Glendinning will never be in a better position to end his wait for a bracelet with a day in the tournament to go.  That said, he still has the 2006 WSOP Player of the Year Jeff Madsen (1.2m) and the 2024 winner of this event Yuri Dzivielevski (705,000) standing in his way.

Two Other Events Kick Off in Vegas

Two other events began on Day 27 of the WSOP, with Event #59, the $1,000-entry No-Limit Hold’em Battle of the Ages, one of them.  A massive field of 3,074-strong field was reduced to 461 survivors through Day 1a, with players over the age of 50 and Day 1b, which played out between those under the age of 50. Joseph Roh (595,000) was the chip leader when the dust settled, with the former 2023 bracelet winner in the $600 No-Limit Hold'em Ultra Stack event for $401,250 on top after a day of this unique tournament that is new to the schedule. Both Japanese player Kazuhiro Shirasawa (553,000) and William Hernandez (517,000) made the podium places.

Finally, in Event #60, the $3,000 buy-in Limit Hold’em event, 343 players took to the felt, with just 100 of them making Day 2. As a prize pool of $915,810 was gathered and a top prize of $200,303 confirmed, Philip Tom top-scored on Day 1 with a pile of 380,000 by the close of play. Behing him, the two-time bracelet winner Marco Johnson (355,000) and serial WSOP casher Roland Israelashvili (284,000) made the podium places, with Patrick Leonard (279,000), Noah Boeken (278,000), and Ren Lin (220,000) also among the survivors.
