When you're hot, you're hot. Stephen Hubbard is the prime example of that. Just three days ago, he bagged the chip lead on Day 1B of the Texas PLO Roundup $3,300 Main Event. Two days ago, he won the $5,100 Single Day High Roller in the series for $36,000. Yesterday, he bagged the chip lead again heading into the final table of the Main Event. And today, he closed it all out, going wire to wire and never faltering on his way to the title and $215,000 first-place prize. He truly put on a show and was locked in on his way to a second straight victory at the Texas PLO Roundup here at the Champions Club in Houston, Texas.

In all, Hubbard eliminated five of his final six opponents, completely smashing every other player and never seeming to miss a flop, a draw, or a spot to bet or bluff. He kicked off the day against Sterling Savill when he flopped two pair against Savill’s top pair and flush draw. The board bricked out, and Hubbard claimed his first knockout. Joe Firova would be the next to fall—and the only player not eliminated by Hubbard. In his final hand, Firova was rivered by Philip Shing’s nut straight and hit the rail.

From there, it was all Hubbard, and it seemed as if he never lost a pot. Vito Qingyu Lu was the next victim when he and Hubbard both woke up with aces. Hubbard flopped his way into a flush, and Lu had no way to catch up. Lu hit the rail in 5th place and earned $50,000 for his run. Next to drop was fellow PGT PLO winner Chris Costa, who ran into Hubbard’s aces as well. The buzzsaw continued as Hubbard turned the nut straight to claim another elimination.

During three-handed play, Hubbard applied relentless pressure to both of his opponents, constantly attacking all the right spots as their stacks got shorter and shorter. Finally, David Shaw took a stand and got it in with a double-suited ace-high hand. Hubbard was holding Q-9-8-7 with a single dead suit, but it didn’t matter—he flopped top pair and held through the river to bring the field down to heads-up play. Shaw earned $100,000 for his 3rd-place finish and scored the biggest recorded cash of his career.

Heads-up play did not last long with Hubbard holding an 11-to-1 chip lead. Shing found one double and a few stray pots here and there, but in the end he bluffed it all off to close out the tournament. In the final hand, Shing limped the button with . Hubbard checked his option with . Shing went bet-bet-jam as the board ran out , and with his straight, Hubbard made the call to lock up his second title of the week.

For his victory, Hubbard earned $215,000 and 215 PGT points. With the win, he moved to 100th place on the PGT leaderboard with two wins, five final tables, and eight total cashes, good for $503,345 in winnings. He’ll still have some work to do to qualify for the season-ending PGT Championship. Philip Shing moves just outside the top 300 with his second-place finish, earning 155 PGT points.

At the season's end, the top 40 eligible players on the PGT leaderboard will qualify for the PGT Championship. The 2025 PGT $1,000,000 Championship will be a $1,000,000 freeroll with a $500,000 first-place prize. Along with the top 40 eligible players, limited PGT Championship "Dream Seat” winners will be awarded through special events and promotions.
