Poker Masters Event #5 $25,000 No Limit Hold’em Day 1 Recap

A total of 66 entries entered this high roller event turning Day 1 into one of the longest of the 2018 Poker Masters as a fierce battle for the final table unfolded. Brian Rast dominated the event from the start along with Jake Schindler, and with two tables remaining the high roller regulars had amassed an impressive lead over the rest of the players.

Arguably the player of the year, Justin Bonomo, busted in 12th place when he ran his jacks into the aces of Dan Shak. Shak jumped into second place after which Daniel Negreanu sent David Sands home empty-handed in 11th place.

The final 10 places were paid and Dan Smith was the first to collect a min cash. Smith took home $49,500 after a massive clash versus Ali Imsirovic. Smith ended up all in holding fives versus the king-queen suites of Brian Rast after which Imsirovic tripled up holding aces.

Bryn Kenney busted in ninth place to Elio Fox when his queen-seven didn’t improve versus ace-nine suited and it took another hour before it was Dan Shak who exited taking home $66,000 for finishing in eighth place. Shak held queen-jack suited versus the ace-jack suited of Ben Yu.

On the final table bubble, it was WSOP bracelet winner Elio Fox who was sent to the rail after busting to Jake Schindler. The final table chip counts for tonight’s action on NBC Sports are as follows.
