Jason Koon bagged more than four times the starting stack and leads 11 remaining players in Super High Roller Bowl X at the PokerGO Studio from ARIA Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The field of 16 entrants has created a prize pool of $1,600,000 so far. The original plan was to play seven levels today, but instead, six levels were played on Day 1. Registration will remain open until the end of Level 7 tomorrow.
Koon sits as the only player to bag a seven-figure stack after the first day of play in the tenth edition of the SHRB, and he will return in prime position to add the Super High Roller Bowl X ring to his extensive trophy collection.
Sitting behind Koon in the counts are Belgium's Thomas Boivin, Brazil's Joao Simao, Sam Soverel, Ukraine's Igor Yaroshevskyy, and Super High Roller Bowl VIII runner-up Andrew Lichtenberger. Meanwhile, Super High Roller Bowl VII champion Daniel Negreanu, Stephen Chidwick, Daniel Rezaei, Jesse Lonis, and Cary Katz will all be returning to the second day of play below the starting stack.
Those who fell during the first day include Nick Petrangelo, Brandon Wilson, Jeremy Ausmus, Ben Tollerene, and Umang Dattani.
Koon took a couple of sizable pots from Rezaei earlier in the day and cemented himself as the chipleader when he left his good friend Tollerene with a single chip. Tollerene, who turned 39 years old today, made a river overbet bluff and left only one chip behind, but ran into Koon's two pair. Tollerene was eliminated shortly after, while Koon will have more than 260 big blinds when play resumes on Day 2.
