Taylor Wilson has been sniffing glory in the PGT PLO Series all year, starting with this year’s first PGT PLO Series back in April, where he finished 4th in this very same event. He continued that streak with another 4th-place finish earlier this series in Event #5: $10,100 Pot-Limit Omaha Progressive Bounty. And now, he has finally closed one out, claiming victory in Event #8: $15,100 Pot-Limit Omaha Mystery Bounty for $195,000 and picking up $190,000 in bounties along the way.
But it was by no means an easy trip for Wilson into the winner’s circle, though he did start things off the right way. Immediately, Wilson began his day by ripping the first bounty he earned on Wednesday night, collecting $5,000 before he even sat down. He followed that up by taking an early pot off Chino Rheem and pulling into the chip lead.
It was Sean Winter who broke the seal and fell first at the final table. Winter got it all in with
against Allan Le holding
. Le made a full house by the river to eliminate Winter, earning the first $5,000 bounty of the day while Winter took home $35,700 for his run.
Next to fall was a short-stacked Chino Rheem, who found himself all in against Frederic Normand. Rheem held
against Normand’s
. The board ran out gin for Normand, giving him a straight to send Rheem to the rail. Rheem earned $48,700 for his finish, while Normand collected another $5,000 bounty.
The four-handed battle lasted over an hour before the next player fell, with players swapping stacks back and forth and remaining relatively even throughout. In the end, it was Dylan Linde who dropped next. Linde’s aces were cracked by Normand’s seven-high rundown, and he would have to settle for 4th place, collecting $65,000 while Normand pulled another $5,000 bounty, leaving the largest mystery prizes in play for three-handed action.
Allan Le was the shortest of the final three, and he was the next to go when Taylor Wilson isolated him to collect his bounty. Wilson made a pair of tens and held to send Le to the rail, entering heads-up play with nearly even stacks. Wilson opted not to look at his bounty until the match concluded.
Stacks remained mostly even until Wilson pulled off a nasty bluff against Normand in a huge pot. In the hand, Wilson limped in and called a raise from Normand holding
, while Normand held
. Wilson bet on the
flop and Normand called to see the
turn. There, Wilson bet again, making it 650,000 and Normand check-raised to 1,400,000. Wilson thought for a bit before jamming all in, putting the pressure on with just his pair of tens. Normand didn’t have much of a hand either and released, allowing Wilson to take the big pot.
Wilson finished off Normand just a few hands later when he flopped two pair and held on. With that, Wilson opened the final three bounties of the tournament worth $5,000, $50,000, and $125,000, which he added to his first-place prize of $195,000. He also earned 234 PGT points with the victory, moving him into 2nd on the PGT PLO Series Leaderboard just behind Sean Winter. He’ll look to chase that top spot in the final two events of the series.
