The 2025 PGT PLO Series II continued from the PokerGO Studio at ARIA Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, with the penultimate event of the series, Event #9: $15,100 Pot-Limit Omaha. The tournament drew 65 entries, and Artur Martirosyan leads the final seven players.
Martirosyan held one of the larger stacks for much of the evening, and although he conceded some chips during the last hour of play, Martirosyan still bagged the overnight lead with just over one-quarter of the chips in play. He leads a final table that includes Veselin Karakitukov, Isaac Haxton, Ben Tollerene, Bryce Yockey, Matthew Wantman, and Sean Rafael. These seven players will return with $40,000 locked up, but all eyes will be on the $290,000 first-place prize, 232 PGT points, and the Event #9 trophy.
The field of 65 entrants created a prize pool of $975,000, and the final 10 players earned a piece of it. Talal Shakerchi was the unfortunate bubble boy when his top pair and flush draw fell to aces. Kamel Mokhammad (10th), Bruno Furth (9th), and Chino Rheem (8th) were the first to fall in the money.
The remaining players converged on a single table, and they played for more than two hours without experiencing a single elimination. Karakitukov doubled, and Haxton doubled and tripled en route to joining the top half of the chip counts. Martirosyan was quite active as he leveraged his sizable stack, and although he lost a few bigger pots, the Russian player still sat atop the counts when the remaining players bagged to return for Day 2.
Rafael picked up his fourth cash of the series, while Wantman and Yockey each grabbed their third. Karakitukov, Haxton, and Tollerene each notched their second, and Martirosyan secured his first of the series. A victory for Karakitukov or Yockey would put either of them above Sean Winter on the series leaderboard, who currently leads with 459 points in the race to be crowned PGT PLO Series champion and awarded the PGT Gold Cup and a $10,000 PGT Passport.
