We’re one step closer to crowing a champion in the 2017 Super High Roller Bowl after a draw was held to confirm the first 35 players in this year’s richest poker event.
A total of 54 players registered between 1:00 and 8:00 p.m. PST on Thursday, after which a lottery was scheduled for 35 seats to be awarded at 2PM today.
A group of poker greats was in attendance for the lottery at the Ivey Room including, Scott Seiver, Justin Bonomo, Jason Koon, Dan Colman, and 2015 Super High Roller Bowl winner Brian Rast.
The lottery – which took just 10 minutes to complete – was supervised by ARIA’s Director of Poker Operations Sean McCormack, as Daniel Negreanu spun the wheel which generated the ping pong balls. Christian Christner was the first player chosen, all the way until Koray Aldemir was the 35th ball picked. Negreanu himself was not part of the names selected, while both former champions Rast and Rainer Kempe were included.
Of the selected players 24 are from the United States, 9 are from Germany and both Canada and Indonesia have one player represented in the 2017 Super High Roller Bowl so far. ARIA Resort & Casino holds the right to pick the remaining 15 players for this event that runs from May 28-31. Here’s the list of the 35 selected players.
