The first-ever PGT Venetian Las Vegas Classic $3,300 Main Event continued at The Venetian Resort Las Vegas, featuring a $1,000,000 guaranteed prize pool. Day 1B drew 151 entries, and leading the 23 advancing players is Sam Laskowitz with 493,000.
Laskowitz scored several knockouts throughout the day, with Christian Roberts, YongQing Yuan, and Santiago Solarte having been just a few of his victims en route to the Day 1B chip lead. Laskowitz bagged just 1,000 shy of Jeremy Becker's Day 1A chip lead. Through the first two flights, 37 players are advancing from 239 entrants, with one more flight to go.
Taylor Black (476,000), John Riordan (424,000), Matthew McEwan (367,000), Craig Mason (360,000), Ryan Laplante (325,000), Melanie Pittard (255,000), Kane Kalas (148,000), and Spencer Champlin (129,000) were among those to finish the day with chips in the bag.
Tyler Goldsmith was one of nine players today who won their way in via satellite, and he found a bag of 250,000 to return for Day 2 in the money. Ten more satellite winners will be playing Day 1C, the third and final flight, which will take place on Saturday, September 13.
On the final hand of the night, PGT satellite winner Rachel Giacopuzzi and Yifu He both got their short stacks in on the feature table but ran into the aces of Jason Hickey. The board changed nothing, and the double knockout sent the remaining players into the money as they bagged for Day 2.
The remaining players will combine with the survivors of Day 1A and Day 1C for Day 2 on Sunday, September 14, at 11 a.m., and they will play down to the final table. A winner will be crowned on Monday, September 15.
The PGT Live Reporting Team will provide exclusive live updates throughout the event on PGT.com until a winner is crowned, while each day will be livestreamed on PokerGO.com.
