The first-ever PGT Venetian Las Vegas Classic $3,300 Main Event continued at The Venetian Resort Las Vegas, featuring a $1,000,000 guaranteed prize pool. Day 1C, the third and final flight, drew 179 entries, and leading the 27 advancing players is Di Liu with 985,000.
Liu held one of the larger stacks for much of the day and leveraged it in the later stages to finish with a near seven-figure stack. Liu will enter Day 2 with a sizable lead as Ryan Leng (663,000), Gregory Brown (612,000), Adam Walton (581,000), and Daniel Marcus (501,000) round out the top five.
The tournament drew a total of 418 entrants across three flights, resulting in a prize pool of $1,254,000. There will be 64 players returning for Day 2 with $6,100 locked up, but all eyes will be on the $250,000 first-place prize, 250 PGT points, the Venetian Golden Lion trophy, and the PGT Gold Cup.
Steven Jones (484,000), Doug Lee (438,000), Kathy Liebert (239,000), John Wasnock (177,000), Jeremy Ausmus (149,000), Michael Berk (138,000), Terry Fleischer (102,000), Jesse Yaginuma (88,000), and Jim Agate (43,000) were among those to finish the day with chips in the bag.
On the final hand of the night, the field had just returned from break and were two eliminations away from the money when multiple all-ins transpired on separate tables. Jesse Rivera got his chips in with fours against king-queen and made his exit when a queen hit the river, while Allen Pock got his chips in on a flop against two other players, and after he failed to improve, the 27 remaining players bagged up for the night.
The surviving players of Day 1C will combine with the survivors of Day 1A and Day 1B for Day 2 on Sunday, September 14, at 11 a.m., and they will play down to the final table. A winner will be crowned on Monday, September 15.
