The NHL season is alive and well but while fans from around the country are preparing for either a run towards the playoffs, one that hopefully ends with their team hoisting the Stanley Cup, or off-season, Las Vegas is already looking forward to next year. The 2017-2018 NHL season will be the first for the Las Vegas Golden Knights, Sin City’s first professional sports franchise.
The excitement around the Golden Knights has been building since last summer, when the NHL’s plans for Las Vegas expansion were finalized. Since, over 12,000 season ticket packages have been sold for the inaugural season and to add to the pre-season excitement, the Golden Knights hosted a 24-hour open house yesterday.
Doors to the new T-Mobile Arena opened at 8 AM on Tuesday morning and some diehard fans even camped out to make sure they were the first to enter their new team’s home arena. The party kept rocking all night long, with prize drawings, including ticket winners to the home opener every hour, hockey skills demonstrations from members of the Golden Knights’ staff, along with food and drinks that are a must at any sporting event.
