Day 2 of the 2017 Aussie Millions Main Event kicked off with 372 players knowing 80 plays will make the money. Following ten levels of action 151 players advance to Day 3 and the looming money bubble. Jennifer Tilly leads the field with a sizable lead after putting 497,100 in the bag.
Defending champ Ari Engel was eliminated during play but 2016’s runner-up Tony Dunst finished just outside the top ten stacks. The retired Fedor Holz bagged up above average along with Jason Mo and Jeff Rossiter.
Tilly’s looking for her second cash in the month after finishing runner-up at a $5,200 Six Max Turbo event at PokerStars Championship Bahamas. The Super High Roller Bowl veteran and Oscar nominee cashes mostly come in Las Vegas and Los Angeles events but should she make the money it will be her seventh different national flag on her results profile.
The prize pool locked in at AUD$7,685,000 with 725 total entrants. The final dozen players earn six-figures, a seat at the final table locks up AUD$210,000 and the winner earns AUD$1.6 million. The runner-up also earns seven figures with an even AUD$1 million prize.
While the field is slightly down from 2016’s 732 entrants, it’s the second year the Main Event has more than 700 runners since 2011 and 2010 (721, 746).
Day 3 has cards in the air at 12:30 local time and Jason Somerville’s streaming schedule kicks off.
