Mike Gorodinsky is now a five-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner after emerging victorious in Event #82: $10,000 8-Game Championship. Gorodinsky secured the $422,421 first-place prize and 422 PGT points after defeating Eric Wasserson once the event extended into an additional day.
Gorodinsky's fifth WSOP bracelet puts him in a tie with fellow mixed-game maestros such as Eli Elezra, Yuri Dzivielevski, Adam Friedman, Robert Mizrachi, John Monnette, Bradley Ruben, Brian Yoon, and Anthony Zinno. Gorodinsky has won five WSOP bracelets in a span of 13 years. He won his first in 2013 in the $2,500 OE for $216,988 before winning the $50,000 Poker Players Championship in 2015 for $1,270,086. In 2023, Gorodinsky won the $10,000 H.O.R.S.E. Championship for $422,747 before winning his fourth in 2024 at WSOP Paradise in the $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha for $393,250.
This score propels Gorodinsky to more than $5,570,000 in lifetime tournament earnings, according to The Hendon Mob. Gorordinsky is now 376th on the All-Time Money List.
The 195-entrant field would see 30 players finish in the money, including Joe Cassidy, John Racener, James Obst, Alex Livingston, Aaron Kupin, Dario Sammartino, Vanessa Selbst, Alexander Wilkinson, Brad Ruben, Brian Yoon, Brian Hastings, Todd Brunson, and Jeremy Ausmus, who finished on the bubble of the final table. Thomas Taylor continued his impressive WSOP with a seventh-place finish, while Bradley Jansen and Kahle Burns exited in sixth and fifth place, respectively. The out-of-retirement Brian Tate was eliminated in fourth place before Jon Turner exited in third.
Gorodinsky began heads-up play with Wasserson holding the chip advantage. Wasserson closed the gap and then took a huge pot in Pot-Limit Omaha with a full house. Wasserson was on cruise control before play halted on Day 3, with Wasserson holding a 10.1 million to 1.6 million chip advantage. Gorodinsky worked on closing the gap before he took a No-Limit Hold'em hand from Wasserson to now be in the lead. The final hand would happen in that same orbit when Wasserson was all-in with a flush and straight draw against Gorodinsky's top pair. The river bricked out, and Gorodinsky became a five-time WSOP bracelet winner.
