The inaugural PGT True Classic Rags To Riches $3,300 No-Limit Hold'em event kicked off at the PokerGO Studio at ARIA Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. Day 1A drew 51 entries, and leading the eight advancing players is Michael Rossitto with 1,840,000.
Rossitto steadily chipped up throughout the day and scored a knockout near the end of the night to move up to a seven-figure stack. He then leveraged his chips on the bubble to accumulate further en route to securing the overnight chip lead.
Maziar Keshavarzi (1,300,000), Benjamin Hamnett (960,000), Justin Sternberg (885,000), Jared Jaffee (835,000), David 'ODB' Baker (610,000), Neil Warren (600,000), and Gregor Sverko (585,000) were the other players to finish with chips in the bag who will return for Day 2 in the money.
True Classic giveaway winners Corey Gutilla and James Morris both played Day 1A, but neither was able to find a bag. PGT satellite winners Tim Duckworth, Wu Zhou, and Jose Sanchez also fired today, but the trio all fell before the end of the day.
There will be 21 special qualifiers playing Day 1B, comprised of 13 True Classic giveaway winners and 8 satellite winners.
On the final hand of the night, Anthony Hu got his chips in with king-seven against the king-six of Keshavarzi. A six landed on the flop, and when Hu failed to improve, he was eliminated as the unfortunate Day 1A bubble boy.
Day 1B will take place on Wednesday, December 3, and the remaining players will combine for Day 2 on Thursday, December 4, at 1 p.m.
