The 2025 Poker Masters kicked off at the PokerGO Studio at ARIA Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, with the debut of the Poker Masters $1,000,000 Showcase. Day 1A drew 109 entries, and leading the 16 advancing players is David 'ODB' Baker with 1,815,000.
Baker was on the verge of elimination early in the day with his top pair out-kicked by Eric Baldwin. Baker rivered a three-outer to survive, and he steadily chipped up from there before he scored the final knockout of the evening to secure the overnight chip lead.
Aram Zobian (1,530,000) and Michael Berk (1,205,000) round out the top three stacks, while Chris Hunichen (1,100,000), Andrew Lichtenberger (1,015,000), Jim Collopy (810,000), Michael Rossitto (720,000), and Nick Seward (115,000) were among those to finish with chips in the bag. PGT Venetian Las Vegas Classic Main Event third-place finisher Doug Lee (1,160,000) and Aaron Massey (155,000) each won their way in via PGT satellite and also made it into the money for Day 2.
On the final hand of the night, recent PGT Las Vegas Venetian Classic High Roller #1 winner Sam Laskowitz got his chips in preflop with tens against the ace-king of Baker. An ace landed on the flop, and when the turn and river changed nothing, Laskowitz was eliminated as the unfortunate Day 1A bubble boy.
Day 1B will take place on Saturday, September 20, and the remaining players will combine for Day 2 on Sunday, September 21, at noon, where they will play down to the final table.
The PGT Live Reporting Team will provide exclusive live updates throughout the event until a winner is crowned, while the entire Poker Masters $1,000,000 Showcase will be livestreamed on PokerGO.com.
