While yesterday didn’t go quite as well for Brevin Andreadis in the $5,100 Single Day High Roller at the Texas PLO Roundup, today was a different story. Andreadis fired two bullets in yesterday’s High Roller and wasn’t able to find a cash, but today it seemed nothing could go wrong for the young pro who played his first PGT event just last month at the PGT PLO Series. By the end of the day, Andreadis was the last man standing, defeating Bryce Yockey to earn his first PGT title.
Andreadis started his day strong, making a straight against Phu Vo to take a big pot early. He quickly followed that up by eliminating Vo altogether. The two players got all the money in on a flop of
, and Andreadis was holding two pair, which improved to a boat by the river. That early momentum would carry him through the initial levels of the tournament, while Vo re-entered to take another shot.
John Wasnock was the early frontrunner in the event as he looked for an important PGT cash that would qualify him for the season-ending PGT Championship. Wasnock pulled in a couple of big pots against Bryce Yockey and Phu Vo early to take the chip lead, but he soon ran into several tough hands that knocked him back down.
Meanwhile, Andreadis couldn’t stop stacking chips. In one of the biggest early pots of the tournament, he called a three-bet from Mathyeu Provost and flopped quads. Provost continued firing, and Andreadis secured a full double-up, pulling nearly even with Wasnock.
Wasnock trended in the opposite direction. In a massive pot against Bryce Yockey and Trenton Pippin, Wasnock ended up on the short end of the stick with his single-suited aces. Yockey’s kings and Pippin’s eight-high rundown each made a flush, knocking Wasnock from chip leader back to the middle of the pack.
Andreadis soon found himself in a similar situation, but he came out on the right side, earning a double knockout against Vo and Pippin. From there, he never looked back as he assumed the chip lead and refused to relinquish it for the rest of the tournament. He continued tearing through the field, eliminating newcomer Brandon Li on Li’s first hand, busting Mathyeu Provost in a massive pot, and finally knocking out John Wasnock to burst the money bubble.
Andreadis entered heads-up play with nearly a 6-to-1 chip lead, and although Yockey found a quick double early in the match, it didn’t last long. Andreadis got it in with a wrap against Yockey’s own wrap. The river brought one of the few cards that would give Andreadis the pot outright, completing the low end of the straight to lock up the win.
The victory represents Andreadis’s first PGT title, earning him $38,500 along with his Texas PLO Roundup belt buckle trophy. With his runner-up finish, Bryce Yockey moves to 34th on the PGT Leaderboard, earning his 14th cash for 1,122 PGT points.
The Texas PLO Roundup continues on Monday with another Single Day High Roller at 2 p.m. CT.
