Brandon Wilson is still trying to secure his seat in the PGT $1,000,000 Championship, but it just got a whole lot easier for him as he opened both paths of entry today. To start the day, Wilson needed 286 PGT points to qualify via the 2025 PGT Leaderboard, and he needed just 54 more points to move into the top five of the PGT Last Chance series leaderboard. Now, he sits just 11 points away from the PGT Top 40 and is well out in front of the race to win a Dream Seat. A lot would have to go wrong for Wilson to not qualify at this point.

Wilson began the day second in chips at the final table of PGT Last Chance Event #3: $10,100 No-Limit Hold'em. While things did not immediately go his way, he was able to maintain steady play for the first few levels. It was Sergio Aido who kicked off the final table in hot fashion, eliminating Joey Weissman on the very first hand of play. Weissman defended his big blind with a suited seven-deuce, flopped a flush draw against Aido's top two, and failed to improve by the river, hitting the rail in sixth place as the first player eliminated.

Phil Hellmuth was the next to go. He first ran his pair into Aido's two pair, then was finished off shortly after by Chino Rheem. In his final hand, Hellmuth flopped middle pair and a flush draw against Rheem's top pair. Rheem went bet, check, jam as he improved to trips, and Hellmuth dropped deep into the tank. After several minutes, he finally called off incorrectly and was eliminated in fifth place. Rheem was out the door not long after when his ace-six lost the race against Aido's pair of nines.

Three-handed play is when Wilson started picking up steam, winning several pots against both Aido and Jeremy Becker. Without many all-in confrontations, Wilson was able to maneuver his way into the chip lead. Even though Becker later found a double through Wilson to even the stacks of all three players, Wilson remained vigilant.

Becker would finally fall in a massive hand against Wilson. Wilson raised the small blind with , and Becker defended with . Becker called down as Wilson went bet, bet, jam on a runout of , only to see the bad news on the river. With that, Wilson took a 2-1 chip lead into heads-up play against Aido.

The heads-up match did not last long. On the third hand, Wilson limped in with queens and quickly called Aido's jam with . The board ran out clean, and Wilson closed out the tournament.

For his win, Wilson earned $275,400 and 275 PGT points, putting him in prime position to qualify for the PGT $1,000,000 Championship.

Brandon Wilson Nearly Secures PGT $1,000,000 Championship Seat

Brandon Wilson is just inches away from securing his seat in the PGT $1,000,000 Championship. After his victory in today's event, he sits with 1,020 PGT points and is just eight points away from making the top 40 qualifying players list. With one more cash over the course of the PGT Last Chance series, he should be able to secure the spot. Should he fail to notch another cash, he can still qualify by earning a Dream Seat via the PGT Last Chance series leaderboard. Depending on how the rest of the series goes for Wilson, one more player could also make their way in with a Dream Seat.

Aido's second-place finish in the event, along with Chino Rheem's fourth-place and Joey Weissman's sixth-place finish, cemented their positions among the PGT qualifying top 40. Aido moves to 19th place while Weissman advances to 29th. Rheem remains in third place and would need to win multiple events to surpass Alex Foxen and Sam Soverel atop the leaderboard.

Phil Hellmuth and Jeremy Becker are now both in prime position to secure a Dream Seat, with Becker sitting fourth on the leaderboard with 174 PGT points behind David 'ODB' Baker, and Hellmuth currently in fifth with 168 PGT points. While neither has locked up a seat yet, both have put themselves in prime position to chase one over the course of PGT Last Chance.
