The opening event of the 2025 Poker Masters series, the Poker Masters $1,000,000 Showcase, which accumulated 239 entrants over two starting flights in the PokerGO Studio at Aria Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, is now down to just the final table of seven, and Andrew Ostapchenko leads the way.
Ostapchenko comes into the final table with 7,125,000 in chips, holding a slight lead over his next closest opponent, David Coleman, with 6,950,000. On the line is the first-place prize of $270,000, 270 PGT Points, and the coveted purple jacket trophy.
Coleman began as the Day 2 chip leader, but had a rollercoaster day. A hand early on saw him fire three streets against Aram Zobian to cross the 3,500,000 chip mark, but Coleman stumbled a bit afterward, falling to around 2,700,000. He eliminated Adam Weinraub in 18th place to get back over 3,000,000 chips, but had his queens cracked by Spencer Champlin to fall back down to 1,600,000. Coleman then headed to the feature table, where he would chip up to cross 6,000,000. After moving back to the secondary feature table, Coleman played a big pot against Mitchell Halverson late in the day that saw Halverson pay off a big bet on the river to see Coleman table an overpair to the board, bringing him to nearly 7,000,000 in chips.
Ostapchenko came into the day in the middle of the pack, but was able to eliminate satellite winner Keegan Westover in 20th place to get close to 2,000,000. He was then up-and-down a bit, but busted Andrew Moreno in 19th place and Kai Nicholls in 13th to remain around 2,500,000. A big hand came up when Ostapchenko's tens held against Jeremy Eyer's ace-jack to eliminate Eyer and cross the 4,000,000 chip mark. Ostapchenko then moved to the main feature table and continued chipping up from there, and scoring the final knockout of the day to cross the 7,000,000 chip mark.
Rounding out the remaining final table players are satellite winner Doug Lee (3,900,000), fresh off a third-place finish in the recent PGT Venetian Las Vegas Classic Main Event, Stephen Song (3,425,000), who snagged a runner-up finish in the PGT Venetian Las Vegas Classic high roller event #2, Mitchell Halverson (2,875,000), satellite winner Jim Agate (2,800,000), and Spencer Champlin (2,800,000).
The tournament drew a total of 239 entrants, creating a prize pool worth $1,195,000, and paying the final 35 players who made Day 2 at least $8,600. A number of top players and PGT regulars made their way to the PokerGO Studio, ready to battle it out for one of the top prizes and to collect some PGT points, as only the 40 highest PGT points earners at the end of the year will gain access to the $1,000,000 PGT Championship Freeroll. Those familiar faces included Sam Soverel, Erik Seidel, Cary Katz, Brock Wilson, Cherish Andrews, Andrew Lichtenerger, David 'ODB' Baker, Joey Weissman, Clemen Deng, Jeremy Ausmus, Aram Zobian, Justin Zaki, Chris Hunichen, Jim Collopy, Justin Saliba, John Riordan, Christian Roberts, Neil Warren, Sam Laskowitz, Michel Berk, Nick Seward, and Michael Rossitto.
The final table will be streamed on PokerGO at 1 p.m. PT, with cards in the air at 11:45.
