Jake Schindler Wins First WSOP Bracelet and $1,328,068

After finishing runner-up to Chad Eveslage just two days prior in the $25,000 High Roller, Jake Schindler has finished one place better to win Event #12: $50,000 No-Limit Hold’em High Roller for $1,328,068.

Schindler topped a field of 101 entrants to capture his first WSOP bracelet and climb to 10th on the All-Time Money List with nearly $35.4 million in lifetime tournament earnings. This was also Schindler’s 30th tournament victory in a poker career that is just over 12 years old.

The fourth high roller tournament of the 2022 World Series of Poker would attract a bevy of high roller regulars and WSOP veterans as the 101-entrant field created a $4,835,375 prize pool. Heading into the final day of play, it would be Brekstyn Schutten holding the chip lead as he looked to add a second million-dollar score to a poker resume that is incredibly impressive as he still works full-time as an ICU nurse, along with being a father to five children. Schutten would begin the final table by doubling Shannon Shorr, before recouping some of those losses by eliminating Andrew Lichtenberger in sixth place.

Four-time WSOP bracelet winner David Peters exited in fifth place at the hands of Shorr when both players connected with top pair and Shorr had Peters outkicked. Shorr moved into the chip lead as he eyed his first WSOP bracelet, but Schindler secured a double with ace-jack against the queen-eight of Shorr to take his first lead at the final table. Shorr would be eliminated the next hand when he was all-in with pocket eights against the pocket tens of Schindler. The board bricked out, and play was down to three-handed action with Schindler holding 60% of the chips in play.

Schutten returned into the chip lead before Punnat Punsri would fall in third place when his queen-jack failed to improve against the ace-ten of Schutten. Schutten entered heads-up play with Schindler holding nearly a two-to-one lead, but that lead would be reversed when he made an all-in river shove with queen-high and Schindler called all-in with two pair. Shortly after that hand, Schutten would call all-in with ace-queen but run into the ace-king of Schindler. The flop landed king-high, and when two blanks fell on the turn and river, Schutten was eliminated in second place and Schindler claimed victory and his first WSOP bracelet.

Jake Schindler Takes Top Spot on PGT Leaderboard

Following his runner-up finish in Event #8 and a win in Event #12, Schindler now takes top spot on the PokerGO Tour (PGT) leaderboard. Schindler sits with 2,697 PGT points ahead of Ali Imsirovic (2,281 PGT points) and Phil Ivey (2,025 PGT points).

There are still 21 PGT-qualifying events at the 2022 WSOP, while there are 13 ARIA High Roller tournaments being played out at the PokerGO Studio on June 27, July 4-11, July 13, and July 17-19.
