The 2019 U.S. Poker Open is officially underway. From February 13-23, the world’s best will compete across ten high stakes events for the USPO Championship. The USPO trophy, $100,000, and the first High Roller Triple Crown title of 2019 is up for grabs and each day, “Today at the Open” will recap the action and prepare fans for PokerGO‘s final table streams.
Super High Roller Bowl’s move to December confirmed that each year of High Roller Triple Crown action will conclude with a high stakes crescendo. The U.S. Poker Open will play the first notes of that year-long track over the next week and a half, when ten events open the 2019 High Roller Triple Crown calendar. Those same ten events will also open the 2019 High Roller of the Year race.
While HROY hopefuls have the entire year to accumulate points, USPO Championship contenders will look to accumulate from the start.
Stephen Chidwick did just that in 2018. The British high roller opened the inaugural U.S. Poker Open with a 5th place finish in Event #1 and added to that result four times over the rest of the series. When the dust settled, Chidwick had recorded five cashes, two UPSO wins, and over $1.2 million in earnings to run away with the USPO Championship title.
A new scoring system for this year’s series likely means no one will run away with this year’s title, but that won’t stop the world’s best from trying. In addition to the USPO trophy, the series winner will take home a $100,000 prize courtesy of Poker Central. U.S. Poker Open points aren’t just at a premium in 2019, they have real money value.
Thanks to a sizable Event #1 $10,000 No Limit Hold’em field, the first points of the 2019 U.S. Poker Open will be awarded tonight. Live reporting for every event is available on Poker Central and final table streams begin February 14 exclusively on PokerGO. Follow along, get in the game, and visit USPO.com for information about the 2019 U.S. Poker Open.
