Fedor Holz Leads Poker Masters Championship Final Table
The summer is quickly approaching and over the next week, Poker Central’s finest minds are putting their heads together to predict and preview the poker world’s busiest stretch of action. Talking everything Super High Roller Bowl and World Series of Poker are editorial members Remko Rinkema, Paul Oresteen and Will O’Connor, along with contributions from Sam Simmons, Brent Hanks and Carly O’Loughlin.
If you could play one World Series of Poker event this summer, what would it be and why?
Remko: As a mixed game fanatic, the $50,000 Poker Players Championship will always be at the top of my bucket list. I’ve played four WSOP events, none of which were No Limit Hold’em and while the Main Event is up there on my bucket list, the $50K tops that without question.
Will: This is a freeroll, right? If so, I’m playing the $50,000 PPC just like Remko. The event has all the games, most of which I am terrible at, and guarantees me a seat with some of the best players in the world, and Remko! If I have to play within my own means, I’ll stick to the $365 The Giant and sell off 80%.
Paul: The new $2,500 Big Bet Mix event is a kitchen table player’s, self-included, dream mix of games. It is going to be a big action, cowboy-style poker final table.
Sam: The Tag Team event so that someone much more skilled than me can carry me to a bracelet.
Brent: The $111,111 High Roller for One Drop. It is going to be a small and juicy field, with plenty of soft spots and rich non-professionals.
What would you dream Tag Team event paring or team look like?
Remko: The Tag Team event should be something that should be fun to be a part of. It you make a deep run with a team of friends, then you’re set up for an epic sweat on the rail. However, it would be a dream scenario to convince Phil Ivey, Phil Hellmuth and Daniel Negreanu to join my team. Sign me up.
Will: I don’t think Mike Dentale and Cate Hall have buried the hatchet and I don’t want them to. I want them to still hate each other when they have to play the Tag Team event together this summer! Good luck on that first orbit Mike, Cate can take it from there.
Paul: I’d love to see Todd Brunson and Sam Grizzle have to play on a team together, they’d give the cameras pure gold. As for myself, I’d like to team up with Kevmath and if we make the final table, come in like a WWE Tag Team – Demolition or Mega Powerish.
Brent: We’re keeping this one in house. Myself, Sam Simmons and Will OC. Bringing home the belt as a team effort and by “team effort,” I mean Will plays the first orbit and then we send him back to the office for the rest of the event.
Carly: Not going to lie, Kevin Hart and Phil Hellmuth, pictured below, would be entertaining AF to watch, so that would be my pick. Going for entertainment value over the actual possibility of winning.
You’ve been given a $10,000 bankroll; how would you spend it on tournaments?
Remko: I’d most likely spend it on satellites for the Main Event. The single-table and multi-table satellites offer some of the best value at the Rio and if I were to convert one of them into a seat, I’d take my chances in the world’s biggest event. If I did get it, I’d really go for it and sell as little action as possible! I might only get one chance like this, so why not fire as big as possible?
Sam: I’d spend it backing players better than me.
Will: I see a trend building with Sam’s answers but because I’m not that smart, we’re firing the $10,000 No Limit 2-7 Single Draw Championship, the real Cadillac of poker.
Paul: Having never had the chance because of work obligations, I would play the Main Event just for the experience to be a part of something I have covered for so many years.
Carly: Treat myself and go eat a lot of fancy meals. Sorry not sorry, I know my strengths.
