Rainer Kempe is now a World Series of Poker bracelet winner after winning Event #72: $10,000 Super Turbo Bounty. Kempe topped an 809-entrant field to win the $892,701 first-place prize and 893 PGT points.
Kempe now has more than $23,340,000 in lifetime tournament earnings, according to The Hendon Mob. He sits 48th on the All-Time Money List, overtaking fellow German Koray Aldemir. Kempe is now third on Germany's All-Time Money List behind Fedor Holz and Christoph Vogelsang.
In 2024, this event attracted 486 entrants, but for 2025 the field nearly doubled as 809 entrants created a prize pool of $7,523,700 that paid the top 123 players after a chop on the money bubble. Players finishing in the money included Masato Yokosawa, Sean Troha, Erik Seidel, John Juanda, James Obst, Noah Boeken, Mustapha Kanit, Stanley Tang, Brian Yoon, Arthur Morris, Christian Harder, Chance Kornuth, Sam Soverel, John Riordan, Jennifer Harman, and Brian Rast before the final three tables of 24 players redraw into the Horseshoe Event Center.
Clemen Deng, Boris Kolev, Brock Wilson, Arden Cho, Justin Saliba, Davidi Kitai, and Robert Cowen all exited prior to the final table being set. Chad Thyzel exited in eighth place when he was all-in with ace-queen against Yuyu Arito's ace-king. Colin Dentan exited in seventh when he was all-in with jack-deuce against Xiaoyao Ma's ace-ten. Raoul Kanme then moved all-in with ace-three and Ryuta Nakai called with pocket nines. Kanme flopped a three but found no additional help to reduce the tournament to the final five players.
Martin Kabrhel was all-in with jack-seven against Kempe's king-six and was unable to improve before Ma called all-in with king-high on a nine-high board and lost to the superior king-high of Arito. Nakai then moved all-in from the small blind with ace-queen and Kempe woke up with ace-king from the big blind. Kempe held and took nearly a four-to-one chip lead into heads-up play with Arito.
The final hand would be a limped pot, and on the nine-five-four board, Arito check-raised all-in with bottom pair. Kempe called with second pair and held on to eliminate Arito and claim his first WSOP bracelet after roughly 16 hours of play.
