The 2025 ARIA High Roller Series continued on Thursday with Event #7: $15,100 No-Limit Hold'em from the PokerGO Studio at ARIA Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. Emerging victorious was Jesse Lonis, winning outright for $278,400 and 278 PGT points.
Lonis joined the field a little before the first break and hovered around the starting stack for a while. He doubled with pocket nines against Neil Warren's pocket kings, flopping a set of nines and fading Warren's flush draw to survive. After that, Lonis didn't have any major confrontations until two tables remained.
He was in a logjam with six other players around the 20-25 big-blind mark before picking up pocket aces against Todd Hovenden, who four-bet shoved with ace-queen. Lonis' aces held up to give him a little separation from the other shorter stacks as the money bubble approached, and eventually burst after nearly two levels of hand-for-hand play. When the final table was reached, Lonis was the shortest stack. However, he found a double on the first hand, beginning his ascension up the leader board to the eventual first-place showing.
The seventh event of the 2025 ARIA High Roller Series drew a 58-entrant field, setting the prize pool at $870,000. The final nine players finished in the money and just missing out was Ray Qartomy, getting his chips in with ace-four suited against Masashi Oya's queen-ten suited. Oya made a straight on the river, ending Qartomy's tournament on the money bubble.
Eric Panayiotou and Manuel Fritz were the first to fall in the money, setting the final table of seven players. Lonis picked up pocket nines on the first hand and doubled through Oya's ace-ten, leading to Oya's seventh-place finish shortly thereafter. Six-handed play lasted a little while before David Chen ran ace-seven suited into Nacho Barbero's ace-queen.
From that point forward, it was all Lonis. He eliminated David Peters in fifth place, calling Peters' 15-big-blind three-bet shove with ace-nine suited and holding up against Peters' ace-six suited. Jun Obara fell moments later, having the best of it with ace-nine against Lonis' ace-three. However, a three fell on the river to give Lonis nearly 80% of the chips in play. Barbero was short at this point and ran king-deuce into Lonis's ace-deuce, failing to improve to bust in third place.
With more than a 4-to-1 chip lead to start heads-up play, Lonis quickly added to that before closing it out. With seven-six suited, Lonis went all in and Tobias Schwecht called all in for his remaining nine big blinds with queen-deuce suited. Lonis paired on the flop and held up to win outright for $278,400 and 278 PGT points.
