The boys, Remko Rinkema and Will O’Connor, are celebrating Omaha Week over on the Poker Central Podcast. There’s perhaps no better player to talk Omaha with than Anthony Zinno – he has eight World Series of Poker cashes in Omaha, including his bracelet in the prestigious 2015 $25,000 Pot Limit Omaha High Roller event for $1.1 million.
Zinno’s become a force in Mixed Games in the past few years – he’s cashed in ten different variants in four years. “I started playing more Mixed Games about two years ago and wanted to give Razz and Stud a shot – it turns out I liked them all quite a bit,” he said. “With me, if I like it then I’ll play a lot of it and if I play a lot of it, I think I’ll get good at it.”
“But I have to enjoy it,” he added. “There’s some games out there I don’t have interest in – like the Pineapple games. But these five HORSE games, they’re fun man. I strongly suggest everyone giving them a shot – play a bunch of hands and hopefully enjoy it.”

Zinno also final tabled the Omaha HiLo Championship twice – sixth place in 2015 and seventh place earlier this Series. “Pot Limit Omaha HiLo is one of my favorites these days,” said Zinno. “I love PLO because it’s such an intricate game. There’s four cards and all kinds of crazy math running through your head and there are great bluffing spots that come about.”
He learned Mixed Games from jumping in the fire. “At first I was learning on the fly, and now I just played first full SCOOP schedule where I had cash games on the side,” Zinno said. “I think online is always the best answer to learn, but I’m not sure how the American sites fare as far as having games running.”
Above all, Zinno wants to enjoy himself at the table. (Photo: PokerPhotoArchive.com)
“There’s a little bit less intensity at the table than at No Limit ,” said Zinno. “You can’t really have the fun table talk dynamic going on in a No Limit tournament because you have to keep your image or whatever – in PLO you can joke around and sling chips.”
