Mike Zulker Leads Final 7 in Poker Masters Event #2: $5,100 No-Limit Hold'em
Andrew Moreno captured his first career PGT title, but that win came outside the PokerGO Studio when he took down the Wynn Millions for $1,460,106. Fast forward four years, and he finally has his second as he defeated a field of 101 entrants to take down Event #3: $10,100 No-Limit Hold'em of the 2025 Poker Masters for $252,000, 252 PGT points, and a Purple Jacket Trophy.
Moreno came into the final table of Event #3 third in chips behind Brian Batt and Sam Laskowitz, but after sending Matthew Wantman home in fifth place for $65,600 plus 66 PGT points, he stormed his way to a chip lead a few hands later and never looked back en route to the trophy.
With Moreno sitting on a sizable chip lead four-handed, he took a back seat as the short stacks canibalized themselves when Jeremiah Williams stuck most of his stack into the middle from the button, only for Laskowitz to move all in from the small blind with a covering stack. Williams called with ace-four and found himself dominated when Laskowitz tabled ace-ten. A ten on the flop sealed his fate, and Williams hit the rail in fourth place for $90,900 plus 91 PGT points after reaching his first career PGT final table.
Even with the elimination, Laskowitz, who started the day as the chip leader, was left on the short stack three-handed, and despite scoring a double through Moreno to make things interesting, a few hands later the two would tangle again with both players holding massive draws.
On a flop of ten-nine-four with two diamonds, Moreno c-bet for 600,000 from the button into a pot of roughly the same, only for Laskowitz to check-raise all in for 3,175,000 from the big blind. Moreno called with a covering stack and tabled ace-king of diamonds for the nut-flush draw. Laskowitz tabled queen-jack of spades for an open-ended straight draw and picked up even more outs when the turn fell the seven of spades, giving him a flush draw as well. The river fell the deuce of diamonds, giving Moreno the nut flush to send Laskowtiz home in third place for $116,700 plus 117 PGT points.
With the elimination, Moreno took a nearly five-to-one chip lead into heads-up play against Batt, and he made quick work of the entrepreneur from Chicago as Batt could get nothing going during the heads-up match. After being whittled down to just a few big blinds, Batt found himself all in for 600,000 from the big blind with jack-ten and was well ahead of the jack-eight of Moreno.
However, the flop fell two diamonds, and when the turn fell a third diamond, Moreno made the flush and Batt hit the rail to collect his $171,700 second-place prize plus 172 PGT points.
Well before Moreno was capturing his crown, John Riordan, who came into the day as the short stack, got his chips into the middle on a board reading queen-nine-six-four with king-nine, only to run into the queen-seven of Williams. Riordan failed to find two pair or trips on the river and hit the rail in sixth place for $50,500 plus 51 PGT points.
