Top Fantasy Poker Picks for Event #36: $10,000 Dealer’s Choice

Monday, October 18, marks the start of Event #36: $10,000 Dealer’s Choice 6-Handed Championship. The defending champion is Adam Friedman, who won the event in 2019 for $312,417 and his second career WSOP gold bracelet.

Would we pick Friedman again? Sure, it’s not a bad pick. He’s a top player with experience in all of the games. The issue comes down to popularity. Friedman is notable and he won the event the last time it was held, so you might find yourself sharing the pick with too many others. Someone with the same SuperDraft multiplier as Friedman is Robert Mizrachi, and that’s where we’d suggest pivoting to.

We generally like to go for players with higher multipliers and pair that with low ownership. Dario Sammartino could very well fit that combination, and he’s coming off a nice run in the $1,500 NL 2-7 Lowball that Phil Hellmuth just won. With Sammartino, we’ll just want to monitor the field to make sure he hops in.

It’s pretty crazy to see Hellmuth with such a higher multiplier than the minimum. Is Hellmuth a bad pick? He might be when you consider that he’s hot right now and should be very popular. He also said in his winner interview last night that he might take some days off, so it’s in the very least worth monitoring whether or not he gets into the field.

Mark Gregorich is a very good player with a decent multiplier, and we also like the idea of drafting Scott Bohlman, Adam Owen, and AJ Kelsall.
