How the PGT Points System Works

PGT leaderboard points are awarded for in-the-money finishes in qualifying poker tournaments. The PGT will calculate all cashes of $1,000,000 or less using three tiers correlating to buy-in amounts: .0010 points per dollar cashed for in $3,000 to $24,999 buy-in events, .0006 points per dollar cashed for in $25,000 to $99,999 buy-in events, and .0003 points per dollar cashed for in $100,000+ buy-in events.

Cashes of $1,000,000 or more are broken into additional tiers of structured segments, with full information in the following table.

$3,000 - $24,999

$25,000 - $99,999

*The cash column defaults to the same major currency used for the buy-in (AUD, EUR, GBP, USD), HKD events will be divided by 10. For payouts above the threshold in the above table, points increase in the same pattern as the ones in the table.

In PGT-owned-and-operated bounty events, the points formula will be weighted to reflect the amount of prize money allocated to bounties. For example, in a $15,000 bounty event where $6,000 is allocated to the bounty, the points formula will increase from 0.001 to 0.0014 to reflect the 40% of the prize pool allocated towards bounties.

In events which are part of a PGT series where a championship bonus is awarded, PGT points cannot be altered if an ICM deal is made between players. Points will be tied to the official finishing position of players in the tournament.

In the case of a PGT-owned and operated bounty event, PGT points will be weighted to factor in removing the bounties from the overall prize pool paid out as the standard payouts.

2024 PokerGO Tour Prizes

The 2023 season of the PGT will culminate in the season-ending PGT Championship. The 2024 PGT Championship is a $1,000,000 freeroll with a $500,000 first-place prize open to the top 40 eligible players, ranked by the PGT leaderboard and ten PGT Championship "Dream Seat” winners. The PGT Championship prize pool will be paid out as a combination of cash and a PGT Passport, which allows players to use the funds to pay for PGT-owned and operated events held in the PokerGO Studio. PGT Passport funds cannot be assigned, transferred, or withdrawn for cash.

Eligibility requirements for the Top 40 are three (3) cashes in PGT events during the current season. The Dream Seats will be awarded via PGT Last Chance (3 seats), the PGT Championship Dream Seat Invitational (6 seats), and the RunGood Poker Series Dream Seat Invitational (1 seat). Those Dream Seats winners will begin the PGT Championship with 100 big blinds, while the PGT Last Chance Dream Seat winners will begin with 125 big blinds. To participate in the PGT Championship Dream Seat Invitational, you must hold a Dream Pass. Click here for more information on Dream Seats and Dream Passes.

Players’ starting chips will be based on their position on the PGT leaderboard, with 40th place, beginning with 150 big blinds. The exact PGT points to starting stack conversion will be announced later in the season. In addition to starting the PGT Championship with the most chips, the player who earns the most PGT points during the year will be awarded a $50,000 bonus and declared the 2024 PGT Player of the Year.

PGT Championship Bonuses

Championship bonuses are awarded to the player who earns the most PGT points during a qualifying PGT series. To be eligible to win a Championship Bonus, a player must cash in at least two events in a series.

The PokerGO Cup, U.S. Poker Open, and Poker Masters will each award a $25,000 championship bonus for the 2024 season. PGT Mixed Games and PGT PLO Series will each award a $10,000 championship bonus for the 2024 season. Championship bonuses are paid as a PGT Passport, which allows players to use the funds to pay for PGT-owned and operated events held in the PokerGO Studio. PGT Passport funds cannot be assigned, transferred, or withdrawn for cash.

If there is a tie for 1st place, the winnings will be split evenly. Wins will decide the declaration of the winner, then cashes, then overall earnings. If there is still a tie after those three categories, then there will be a high-card drawing to decide the series champion.

PGT Shot Clock

The PGT shot clock is 20 seconds preflop and 30 seconds postflop. Time extensions are worth 30 seconds regardless of street. In most events, players who enter the tournament before the first break will receive eight (8) time extensions, while entering after the first break begins will see players give six (6) time extensions. Additional time extensions will be distributed to players in the money if the field exceeds 71 entrants (2) or 85 entrants (3). The final seven (7) players will receive six (6) additional time extensions. The number of time extensions may increase due to factors including buy-in, structure, and tournament style.
