Phil Ivey Crowned Super High Roller Series Europe Overall Champion

Phil Ivey is adding yet another title to his trophy case. With two victories and five cashes for a total of $2,880,100, Ivey amassed 1,725 points to win the Super High Roller Series Europe leaderboard title. Ivey won an additional $25,000 prize to the accomplishment of being crowned Super High Roller Series Europe overall champion.

Ivey excelled in the tournaments at Triton Poker Cyprus and Super High Roller Series Europe, both of which counted towards the series leaderboard. He won Triton Poker Cyprus Event #3: $75,000 Short Deck Hold’em for $1,170,000 and won Super High Roller Series Europe Event #4: $50,000 Pot-Limit Omaha for $640,000.

“It’s still nice,” Ivey said after winning Event #4 of SHRS Europe. “It’s always nice to win a tournament.”

In addition to the two wins mentioned above, Ivey placed fourth in Triton Poker Cyprus Event #1: $50,000 No-Limit Hold’em for $387,100, fifth in Triton Poker Cyprus Event #6: $50,000 No-Limit Hold’em Turbo for $179,000, and second in Super High Roller Series Europe Event #2: $50,000 Short Deck for $504,000.

Ivey’s recent success also vaulted him up the 2022 PokerGO Tour (PGT) leaderboard, where he now sits second to Ali Imsirovic. Imsirovic has four wins and 16 cashes for 1,839 points this season, and Ivey is only 114 points back.

We have a good idea of how much volume Imsirovic will put in over the course of the 2022 PGT season, but what Ivey will do is very much up for debate, as we’ve only seen him pop in and out of the live tournament scene here and there over the past couple of years. Ivey is aware that the top 21 finishers on the PGT leaderboard get to compete for the $500,000 winner-take-all prize in the PGT Championship at the end of the season, so we’ll see if that motivates him to compete in more PGT events.

Whether Ivey continues to play a lot or not, he will always be the 2022 Super High Roller Series Europe overall champion, which is yet another top-tier accolade in arguably the greatest poker player of all time’s career.
