Three tournaments took place yesterday that haven’t found a final table set-up just yet. From Razz to Colossus players, with an Omaha mix thrown in for good measure, a cocktail of fun, fast play, and fantastic entertainment were on offer on Thursday. Let’s take a look who bagged a seat for the next day.

A DOZEN REMAIN IN THE RAZZ CHAMPIONSHIP

The $10,000 Razz Championship saw Chris Ferguson on top of the chip counts after 116 players were reduced to 12 on Day 2, with Scott Seiver (622,000), George Alexander (593,000) and Mike Gorodinsky (227,000) all still in the hunt for the bracelet. Player of the Year leader Dan Zack (815,000), Daniel Negreanu (478,000), 2018 event champion Calvin Anderson (385,000) and short stacks Andre Akkari (106,000) and Cary Katz (96,000) also harbor hopes of glory on the approaching penultimate day.

Ferguson will have the defending champion of this event, Calvin Anderson, on his direct left tomorrow, while Daniel Negreanu will look two to his left and see current WSOP Player of the Year leader Dan Zack. Negreanu’s gain could be Shaun Deeb’s POTY gain if Kid Poker manages to bust Zack along the way tomorrow.

COLOSSUS SEES MAMMOTH FIELD REDUCED TO UNDER 2,000 PLAYERS

With players such as John Goyette (1,435,000), Hien Tran (1,152,000) and Ian Steinman (1,127,000) at the top of the leaderboard, it was famous WSOP Circuit player Maurice Hawkins who grabbed some 811,000 chips to headline the famous payers through to Day 2 of the Colossus after 13,109 players took their seats across both opening flights. Others such as Kathy Liebert (655,000) and 2003 WSOP Main Event champion Chris Moneymaker (195,000) also survived the action.

Just 1,951 will return on the combined Day 2, to begin to play to a winner, with 15 levels of 40 minutes each likely to trim the field considerably when play ends.

OMAHA MIX SEES EVANS THE LEADER

The $1,500-entry Omaha Mix event saw Barry Greenstein ended the day with a lot of chips, and he was joined in Friday’s seat draw by luminaries such as Eli Elezra, Max Pescatori, Scott Clements, Loren Klein, Barbara Enright and 2013 WSOP Main Event champ Ryan Riess, who all survived Day 1.  With 717 entries overall, it was John Evans (130,400) Anatolii Zirin (117,800), and Bart Hanson (107,800), who rode highest as just 218 survived the day and remain in the hunt for the $199,838 first prize.
