WSOP Day 29 Review: Ben Lamb, David Benyamine and Shaun Deeb Pushing for PLO Glory

Day 29 of the 2021 World Series of Poker may not have seen any winners crowned with WSOP bracelets, but there were three events taking place that thrilled the attending fans and fellow players, with the 25 players who remain in the PLO High Roller close to glory.

Ben Lamb piled up the biggest amount of chips on the second day of action in the $25,000-entry PLO High Roller, with 148 total entries whittled down to just 25 survivors by the close of play. Lamb (3,885,000) has a big lead over Nathan Zimnik (2,535,000) and David Benyamine (2,340,000), who are his nearest rivals, but there are big names throughout the remaining players.

In the top 10 chipcounts alone, half the field already have bracelets to their name, with Shaun Deeb (1,975,000) past wins of four former bracelets the biggest. Just outside the top 10, Jeremy Ausmus (1,280,000) will be looking for his third if he can reach the final table tomorrow.

Players to fall short on Day 2 included Chance Kornuth, Scott Seiver, Joseph Cheong, Ben Yu, Day 1 leader Eric Kurtzman, Will Jaffe and Dash Dudley, who won’t add to his two WSOP wins of the past in this event.

In Event #54, the Nine-Game Six-Handed Mix, Day 1 saw 136 players from the 319 total entries make the cut. Kao Saecho (240,000) has the chip lead, but they are followed by some big hitters and very closely too. Brian Rast won a WSOP bracelet just yesterday – his fifth – and sits second in chips on 212,100, while Eli Elezra (196,100), Ray Henson (190,600) and Chris Putz (169,000) all inhabit the top 10.

Finally, on Day 1b of the Seniors Event, which is #52 on the event schedule and costs $1,000 to enter, Dany Georges bagged the biggest stack after the day’s play concluded the opening Day 1 flights in style.

With 2,972 entries on the day, the total field for this event was an incredible 5,404 entries, with just 622 players making it through. With over a thousand players remaining, players will be hoping to make the money on Day 2, with 811 combatants being paid. Elsewhere in the field who made Day 2, Barry Greenstein (156,500), Howard Mash (127,000), James Moore (104,000), Dan Heimiller (88,500) and Allen Kessler (80,500) all bagged up by the close of play.
