Remko on the Rail – Seiver Collects Much Desired Second Bracelet

Just one bracelet was awarded at the Rio in Las Vegas last night, but that didn’t make it any less special! Scott Seiver, one of poker’s biggest stars, took down the $10,000 Limit Hold’em Championship to collect the first prize of $296,222 and with that a much desired second gold bracelet.

Earlier this summer, Seiver spoke about wanting to win another bracelet, and how anyone who says that they don’t matter “is lying.” In that event, the $2,500 Mixed Triple Draw, Seiver finished runner-up to Johannes Becker for $115,516, but now he has his second, while also adding to his staggering total of more than $23 million in live tournament earnings.

Speaking to reporters after his win, Seiver said, “I’ll be honest, it matters a lot to me, it really does. I feel that I’ve really accomplished most things that I’ve set out to do in poker so far, and honestly, ever more than that.”

The $10,000 Limit Hold’em Championship drew a total 114 players, with its final table played out on the Poker Central Twitch channel last night. Relive that entire final table here.

Four other events at the Rio are making headway, and here’s a brief recap to get you caught up with the action. Starting with the live-streamed action on Twitch, the $1,500 No Limit Hold’em Bounty tournament returns with four players at 4 pm ET. Ryan Leng hols the chip lead over Ranno Sootla, Christian Nolte and former WSOP Main Event runner-up Jay Farber. The first prize in this event is $272,504 as 1,983 entries created a prize pool of $2.6 million.

Can Abdellatif Be Stopped?

One of Belgium’s finest players, Jonathan Abdellatif, has been putting on a show thus far in the $3,000 No Limit Hold’em event with Big Blind Antes. The field of 1,020 players has been brought down to its final 31, and Abdellatif holds 20% of the chips already at this point. With $522,715 awaiting the winner, the Top 10 looks as follows.

Negreanu and Matusow in Contention in $1,500 PLO-8

One of the most volatile tournament formats, Pot Limit Omaha Hi-Lo Eight-or-Better is down to 20 players from a starting field of 935. Leading the way is defending champion Nathan Gamble, followed by an array of recognizable names including bracelet winners Mike Matusow, Eli Elezra, Bryce Yockey, Quinn Do and Daniel Negreanu.

This event will play deep into the night and potential reach a winner. If Negreanu and Matusow make a real run at it, a big crowd is to be expected for this one!

Hennigan Looks to Regain POY Lead

As the WSOP Player of the Year race is heating up, John Hennigan just bagged the overnight chip lead on Day 1 of the $10,000 Razz Championship. Hennigan currently sits in second place on the POY board, just a few points behind Shaun Deeb. As it stands, the race is firmly between Deeb and Hennigan, with Elio Fox and Scott Bohlman trailing by a large margin. The Top 10 looks as follows.

Day 2 of the Razz Championship resumes with 52 players and registration open for another two hours on Day 2. Other big stacks after Day 1 include Ted Forrest, Rob Mizrachi, Bart Hanson, Dzmitry Urbanovich and James Obst.

Last but not least, the $1,000 Tag Team No Limit Hold’em event kicked off on Wednesday. A colorful array of teams assembled for this fan-favorite event, and the team of Juan Ramirez, Isai Coello, and Dustin Pattinson leads after Day 1. This event drew a total of 1,032 teams with 242 making it to Day 2.

Notable teams such as Mohsin Charania-Sunny Patel, Jason Wheeler-Ludovic Geilich, and Tom Middleton-Steven Warburton are in strong contention with $175,805 up top for the winner.
