Ali Imsirovic Takes Top Spot On 2022 PGT Leaderboard

Ali Imsirovic is back in a familiar position in the poker world. With an eighth-place finish in the Triton Poker Cyprus $100,000 NL Hold’em, Imsirovic picked up 76 PokerGO Tour (PGT) leaderboard points to move into first place of the standings. Imsirovic is now on top of the 2022 PGT leaderboard with 1,445 points and 70 points clear of Isaac Kempton in second place.

The result allowed Imsirovic to become the second player with more than $2,000,000 in winnings from PGT-qualifying events in 2022. The other is Nick Petrangelo.

The Triton Poker Cyprus series leads into Super High Roller Series Europe, which includes Super High Roller Bowl Europe. With so many ultra high-stakes tournaments on the schedule in this first portion of April, the PGT leaderboard will be something to monitor on a daily basis.

In the PGT’s inaugural season in 2021, Imsirovic was crowned PGT Player of the Year. He had 14 wins, 34 cashes, and more than $6,000,000 in earnings last season on the PGT, finishing the year with 4,364 points. Through just over a quarter of the 2022 PGT season, Imsirovic has four victories, 13 cashes, and more than $2,200,000 in winnings. His most recent PGT score, the eighth-place finish in Cyprus, earned Imsirovic $251,700 in prize money.

Imsirovic wasn’t the only player to get a boost from a recent performance at Triton Poker Cyprus. Jake Schindler placed third in the same event Imsirovic took eighth in, winning $903,000 and increasing his position into the top 10 of the 2022 PGT leaderboard. Schindler now has 872 points, and his arrival in the top 10 bumped out Cary Katz. Schindler is ranked 10th and Katz, who has 845 points, slid back to 11th.

What Does the PGT Leaderboard Winner Get?

The 2022 season of the PGT will award $500,000 to the PGT champion. The top 21 players on the PGT leaderboard at the conclusion of the season are invited to compete in a winner-take-all tournament with a $500,000 top prize. This final tournament is deemed the 2022 PGT Championship and will crown this season’s champion. Starting stacks in the PGT Championship will be based on the amount of points earned by a player during the regular season.

The Triton Poker Cyprus series is running now, and all events qualify for the PokerGO Tour. At the conclusion of the Triton Poker Cyprus series, Super High Roller Series Europe runs at the same venue, Merit Royal Hotel Casino & Spa in North Cyprus, from April 7-15.
