Nick Petrangelo Leads Stacked U.S. Poker Open Event #5 Final Table

The fifth event of the 2022 U.S. Poker Open was a hotly contested affair at the PokerGO Studio in Las Vegas with Nick Petrangelo snagging the overnight chip lead, narrowly edging out fan-favorite Ren ‘No Gamble, No Future’ Lin. Two-time defending U.S. Poker Open champion David Peters entered his first event of the series and made the final table as well as reigning PokerGO Tour champion Ali Imsirovic, Jeremy Ausmus, Ren Lin, and Chris Brewer.

Today’s event drew a total of 66 entries including 16-time WSOP bracelet winner Phil Hellmuth, Nick Schulman, Scott Seiver, and Brian Rast who were all eliminated shortly after registration closed. Daniel Negreanu, fresh off a third-place finish in the $10,000 Big Bet Mix, was amidst another run when Petrangelo knocked him out holding pocket kings versus Kid Poker’s tens.

While Brewer and Imsirovic provided the entertainment at their table, John Riordan found himself on the unlucky end of an all-in that gave Ren Lin a big stack. Jeremy Ausmus vaulted towards the top after winning a big three-way pot versus Jake Daniels and Kristina Holst, sending Daniels to the rail. Holst, on the other hand, managed to hold on but ultimately she busted two spots off the money.

Inaugural U.S. Poker Open Champion Stephen Chidwick fell just short of the money as well as a failed bluff decimated his stack versus Tamon Nakamura. Canadian Umang Dattani was having the time of his life, chatting it up with players at all his tables, and a timely double up against Imsirovic kept him in the hunt for the final table. In the end, it was Joey Weissman who became the bubble boy, running eights into the aces of Petrangelo.

Peter Placey (10th – $26,400) busted immediately as soon as the bubble burst followed by Alex Livingston (9th – $26,400) all while the lead kept changing hands between Ausmus, Peters, Brewer, and Petrangelo. A disappointed Dattani busted in eighth place for $26,400 when he ran ace-queen into the kings of Ren Lin. The last player to exit the tournament happened to be the last one standing in Event #4 as Tamon Nakamura bubbled the live-streamed final table. Nakamura shoved his last 13 big blinds into the middle with queen-ten only to get knocked out by Lin holding ace-king suited.
