David Sands Opens Office Hours On "Poker After Dark"

The second night of “Holidays with Hellmuth” lived up to expectations with chips and words flying from ‘The Poker Brat’ and his new table of adversaries. The $100/$200 cash game featured a minimum buy-in of $20,000 and the action streamed on PokerGO with Hellmuth taking center stage once again.

Dan Shak returned to the felt after playing in last night’s Sit-n-Go and was the only returning player with four newcomers making their Poker After Dark debut. Chief among them was the ‘Doc’ himself, David Sands. Regarded as one of the best players of his generation, Sands looked right at home from the moment he sat down. Sands would end up booking the largest win of the night.

The other newcomers surrounding Hellmuth were a trio of business professionals in Avi Freedman, Rick Thompson, and Brian Potashnik. All three have experience in high stakes cash games and did not shy away from mixing it up.

Hellmuth was up to his usual antics and found himself forced into quite a few tough decisions. Caught in the middle of Shak and Thompson, Hellmuth made a fold that he would end up punished for by the ensuing boards.

The game featured a little bit of everything from Hellmuth including speeches, needles, and self-promotional pitches regarding his book. Hellmuth’s book became a prop midway through the game during an all-in situation.

Put to the test by Thompson for his stack, Hellmuth attempted to get a read off the entrepreneur. It was hard for Hellmuth to do so as Thompson read Hellmuth’s book directly back to the author.

Hellmuth held the ace-king the first time he was put to the test. This time, he battled against the hand in the longest tank of the night.

When the dust settled on the night, Hellmuth found himself a winner for the second consecutive show. Hellmuth took home $33,000 for finishing second in the $10,000 Sit-n-Go. Tonight, he added almost $20,000 to his haul for the week.

The final night of “Holidays with Hellmuth” airs tomorrow night at 6:00 pm ET on PokerGO with a $25,000 Sit-n-Go taking place. Daniel Negreanu, Antonio Esfandiari, and Maria Ho are among the players scheduled to appear.
