Jeremy Ausmus Wins 2022 PokerGO Cup Event #4 for $263,250

Jeremy Ausmus is the winner of Event #4: $15,000 No-Limit Hold’em from the 2022 PokerGO Cup. With the victory, Ausmus picked up a $263,250 first-place prize and propelled himself to the top of the series leaderboard. Ausmus now leads the race for the series championship with 407 points.

Ausmus came into Sunday’s final day of play one of six players remaining from the 65-entry field in Event #4. Ausmus was in fifth chips position to start but successfully maneuvered his way to the winner’s circle.

The hand that got Ausmus started in the right direction at the final table, and in quite a big way, came a little over 30 minutes into play when he won a big three-way pot with pocket tens. Ausmus went into it with the worst of it against Jesse Lonis’ pocket aces and Justin Saliba’s pocket jacks, but Ausmus spiked a ten to basically triple up and knock out Lonis. That hand gave Ausmus the chip lead.

In the end, Ausmus busted Brock Wilson in heads-up play to take the title. It was also his first time winning an event inside the PokerGO Studio at ARIA Resort & Casino in Las Vegas.

Event #4: $15,000 NL Hold’em at the 2022 PokerGO Cup drew a field of 65 entries, generating a prize pool of $975,000. The top 10 places finished in the money.

Ausmus’ Road To Victory In Event #4

Picking up the action in Level 10, that’s when Jeremy Ausmus knocked out Chance Kornuth. Ausmus had pocket queens and held against Kornuth’s king-queen. Shortly thereafter, Ausmus knocked out ​​Dhillon Karaminder for even more chips.

Although a couple of players doubled through him on the way, Ausmus had a healthy stack when the final nine players combined to one table.

Steve Zolotow busted in ninth place, and Alex Foxen went out in eighth place. With seven players left, Jesse Lonis doubled through Ausmus. Then, Cary Katz took out Ian Bradley in seventh place to finish Day 1. Entering Day 2, Katz was the chip leader with Ausmus fifth in chips with 22.5 big blinds.

A little over 30 minutes into Day 2, Justin Saliba raised with pocket jacks to 100,000 with the blinds at 25,000-50,000 with a 50,000 big blind ante. Saliba was in the cutoff seat. Ausmus was next to act on the button and looked down to see pocket tens. He reraised all in for 755,000. In the big blind, Lonis, who was the shortest stack at the time, had two aces and called all in. Saliba called to create a three-way all-in clash. Ausmus went from worst to first when he flopped a ten and held from there. Lonis was eliminated and Ausmus moved into the chip lead.

Next to go was Saliba. He got his money in good with ace-king against Brock Wilson’s ace-jack, but Wilson hit a jack to knock out Saliba in fifth place.

After that, Bill Klein busted in fourth. He shoved with king-ten of diamonds and was picked off by Katz with the ace-queen of clubs.

Three-handed play saw chips change hands quite a bit. Eventually, Katz fell very short and lost out to Ausmus’ pocket aces to bust in third.

Entering heads-up play, Wilson had about a 2-1 chip lead over Ausmus, but Ausmus fought his way to the front. He picked off a big bluff from Wilson that proved to be the turning point of the heads-up duel.

The two played for a bit longer before the final hand came up. With the blinds at 50,000-125,000 with a 125,000 big blind ante, Ausmus moved all in from the button for effectively 1,350,000. Wilson called with ace-four and was at risk against Ausmus’ queen-three. Ausmus hit a queen on the turn to win the hand.

Ausmus Takes PokerGO Cup Lead

Through four events at the 2022 PokerGO Cup, Ausmus has two top-two finishes. He placed second in Event #3: $10,000 No-Limit Hold’em for $144,000 and 144 points before winning Event #4. His results have allowed Ausmus to move into the top spot on the 2022 PokerGO Cup leaderboard through four events.

Cary Katz, who placed third in Event #4, moved to second place on the 2022 PokerGO Cup leaderboard, and Wilson, who finished runner-up to Ausmus, is now in third on the series leaderboard. Both Katz and Wilson have three cashes through four events at the 2022 PokerGO Cup.

On the 2022 PGT leaderboard, Nick Petrangelo remains in the lead with 845 points, but Ausmus improved his standing to second place. Katz also jumped into the top 10 and is now in ninth place.
