System Calibration

Automatic hardware adjustment of PGT gamma spectrometers with the QCC technology is as simple as placing a Cs137 source near the detector and pressing one button. Detector high voltage, coarse gain, and fine gain are automatically set. For a more finely tuned energy calibration, place a Eu152 source near the detector and press one button. A quadratic energy calibration and resolution calibration are automatically performed.

For quantitative analysis with Quantum MCA Gold, an efficiency calibration is also required. Efficiency calibration is as simple as selecting one of the calibration standards, starting acquisition, and pressing one button to calibrate. The resulting efficiency curve is then generated. For comparison purposes, there is also a plot of the theoretical curve generated from the information in the detector model.
