Analysis Methods

There are two analysis methods available in Quantum MCA Gold: library directed and ROI directed. The library-directed method performs an automatic peak search according to the parameter settings in the Tools Setup window. Peaks are then matched to the library lines of allowed isotopes, and the isotopic identification is made. The last step involves the calculation of isotopic activities based on the efficiency correction data for each gamma energy. The report also includes a list of isotopes for which an incomplete list of gamma lines have been identified.

The ROI-directed method assumes that the counts within an ROI are associated with an isotope pre-assigned to that ROI. The counts in that ROI are summed and efficiency corrected in order to obtain the activity for that isotope.
