High-Purity Germanium (HPGe)

Princeton Gamma-Tech has been a leader in the field of semiconductor gamma- and X-ray detectors for over 30 years. When General Electric first produced high-purity (intrinsic) germanium crystals in 1972-73, PGT manufactured the first commercial HPGe planar detectors, soon followed by the first HPGe coaxials. Since that time, PGT HPGe detectors have explored outer space, gone to the depths of mines in search of beta-beta decay in enriched germanium, and found uses throughout the world in nuclear power plants, environmental measurements, and aerospace studies.

High-Purity Germanium Products

Cryocoolers

PGT’s proprietary Quiet-One ultra-low microphonic detector mounting assembly gives our mechanically cooled HPGe detectors industry best performance. We are the only commercial company in the world that guarantees our cryogen-free HPGe detectors can offer equal performance as liquid-nitrogen cooled systems. None of our competitors can achieve the same or offer this same guarantee.

High-Purity Germanium (HPGe)

PGT manufactures hyperpure germanium detectors for gamma ray spectroscopy as well as support electronics and software. Detector styles include P-types, N-types, well counters and low energy detectors. Electronics include complete spectroscopy systems as well as multi-channel analyzer component systems with software for data acquisition and qualitative and quantitative analysis. PGT offers NaI detectors and analyzers for the best NaI spectroscopy available.
