Quantitative Analysis Methods
QuantumGold software makes use of a user-editable database of standards to perform an efficiency calibration of the system. The efficiency data are stored in the Nuclide Library for use in quantitative analysis of spectra.
The Analyze - Rapid Scan routine simultaneously calculates quantitative information along with the qualitative information of the Peak Identify routine. The software determines how many of the enabled lines of each isotope are matched to ROIs in the spectrum. If at least one line matches, then the system computes a cross-correlation coefficient between the matching lines in the spectrum and the lines of the isotope. The Rapid Scan approach depends on there being exactly one line in the library for a given isotope for each peak in the spectrum. Results are reported in order of decreasing correlation:
If several lines from an isotope form an unresolved multiple or if there are overlapping lines from different isotopes, Analyze with Deconvolution or Analyze - ROI directed are the programs to use. The Deconvolution method will automatically open a Deconvolution display that shows the same portion of the spectrum as shown in the main display area. When the display covers a single peak, for example, the Deconvolution display will clearly show any overlapped ROIs. The user can click on one of these ROIs, delete it, and reanalyze the spectrum if desired.
Analyze - ROI directed is a manual analysis procedure: The user can set a single ROI over a peak and specify the nuclides present in that ROI.
