MCA2100R Multichannel Analyzer
The MCA2100R is a stand-alone gamma spectrometer specifically designed for use with NaI detectors. It is packaged as a peripheral to the PC, and it communicates via the RS232 port. Multiple units can also be connected to the PC by using a multiple-port RS232 interface. An optional 10/100 base-T Ethernet version (Model MCA2100R-EN) is also available. The MCA2100R features a fast dual-mode ADC. This allows the system to operate either as a standard 1000-channel MCA in linear mode or as a 512-channel MCA in QCC (Quadratic Compression Converter) mode. In QCC mode, the system delivers uniform peak resolution from 20 to 2000 keV with 512 channels of resolution. QCC mode provides excellent peak resolution throughout the spectrum by performing an extremely fast, real-time, electronic correction for the non-linearity of the NaI detector. Consequently, the shape of each peak and the resolving power of low energy lines are enhanced.
The MCA2100R includes the QuantumMCA software. All hardware setup and calibration functions are made through the QuantumMCA. For ease of setup, the MCA2100R, performs automatic adjustments of the detector bias, coarse gain, and fine gain. Simply place a Cs137 source near the detector and press one software button. The unit performs the high voltage adjustment and sets the coarse and fine gains. For a more precise energy calibration, the system can perform a quadratic energy calibration and resolution calibration. To perform this function, simply place a Eu152 source near the detector and follow the automated process. The MCA2100R is now ready to use. For applications that require quantitative analysis, PGT's Quantum Family of Software Packages has a number of NaI and germanium detector software options that will satisfy your needs.
